Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 1-1 of 2; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

In a broader sense, what many left groups do not understand is that the Transitional Programme is not a 'propaganda' document. Trotsky himself points out in the programme that its aim is what he calls the "systematic totally unrelated to the matter at hand. It is, on the contrary, to select that demand which can relate to the concrete needs of masses of people, at any one time, and to lead them forward in struggle which can change their consciousness.
Mobilising 25,000 young women (and men) June 2.1st around the struggle for the right to free abortion was a hundred times effective than mouthing a string of (abstractly) correct demands on other issues....... The former involves people going through a real experience of struggle whereas the latter involves merely sectarian preaching.
