are sure readers of Socialist Challenge support the campaign to defend abortion rights. However, we in the Wandsworth Socialist Workers Party are disturbed to find that local members of the IMG abortion have argued that the slogan "Abortion Demand' should be dropped in the fight against the Corrie Bill.

They suggest the central slogan should be 'Defend the 1967 Abortion Act'.

The shortcomings Abortion Act and the way the Act is being eroded by cutbacks in the health service are there for all to see. Yet to preserve the existing provision, must raise demands Corrie and the 1967 Abortion Act.

Merely provision suggests that it is adequate and that pro-abortionists are satisfied it. Do the Challenge wish to create impression?

Faced with savage Tory attacks, it is essentiat that the left go on the It has to demand NHS abortion day care units and better facilities for all women abortion.

The alternative to Corrie's Bill is 'Abortion on Demand'.

•It is wrong te argue that the slogan may offend people otherwise get involved against the Corrie Bill. Was 'abortion on demand' not a major demand in the struggle against Benyon White? Huge numbers of people were mobilised then.

The IMG and Socialist Challenge should clarify their Otherwise it will lead to the strugg e for "hree abortion on demand -right to choose'.
